Pour a small amount of mineral spirits on a rag and wipe the affected skin to dissolve the finish, then wash thoroughly with soap and water.
For CA (super) glue on skin, do not pull or pry. Simply soak the bonded skin in warm, soapy water and gently roll or twist the skin apart. Acetone can dissolve it, but it’s harsh on skin; I prefer patience and soapy water. Likewise, if you need to remove glue adhesive residue from wood, start with gentle methods like warm, soapy water and patience. If necessary, test a small area first and consider a minimal amount of solvent compatible with the wood finish.
Eye Exposure: The Most Urgent Protocol
This is your top-priority emergency. The rule is absolute: flush the eye immediately at an eyewash station or under a gently running faucet for 15-20 minutes. You must hold the eyelids open to ensure the water flows across the entire eye surface. This dilutes and removes the chemical.
Call for help immediately so someone can get you to an emergency room or urgent care while you continue flushing, even on the way if possible. Do not rub the eye. Time is critical to prevent permanent damage.
Inhalation: Recognizing Vapor Overexposure
Your body will tell you. Common symptoms include dizziness, headache, a metallic taste, nausea, and irritation in your nose, throat, or lungs. Your thinking may feel foggy. The instant you feel any of this, your job is over.
